I absolutely love deejaying and emceeing weddings. As one of my dear clients said, “DJ Skai went above and beyond & we are so glad that we chose him as our DJ.” Let me take you behind the DJ booth to share how the experience comes together.
Consultation
During the initial meeting, I learn the couple’s special connection, cultural preferences, religious sensitivities and the theme to incorporate into a playlist or my emceeing delivery. In other words, I'm getting the vibe down.
I create a recommendation for producing their wedding day experience with carefully curated music, appropriate audio/visual equipment, and emcee skills. Let's move on to planning
Planning and preparation
Whether a two-hour micro wedding or an elaborate multi day wedding celebration, adequate planning is essential to meet the couple’s expectations. My notes guide my planning for the next five elements: Venue, Timeline, Playlist, Equipment & Script.
All venues are different. To do my job well, I account for the various site regulations. Clients aren’t concerned about required insurance policies because I am.
The timeline is my unspoken compass. If the wedding appears to move seamlessly between segments, it’s because I’m following the schedule to the minute.
Playlist: Using details gathered from the initial consultation, I curate the event playlist. Each song inspires the wedding party and the guests to immerse completely in the moment.
Equipment: As a wedding professional, I know that quality microphones, competent speakers, flexible lighting, and special effect devices create the perfect visual ambiance for the day. I choose just the right equipment.
Script: The script allows me to emcee the night with clarity and accuracy. Every bridal party name will be pronounced perfectly, and no table will be forgotten at dinner time (crisis averted).
In the final stages of planning and prep, I coordinate with the vendor team and dry clean my tux. Yes, out of respect for the occasion, I absolutely look stunning.
"We worked together for weeks on playlist outline and had the wedding of our dreams. We were really impressed with his preparedness and ability to navigate our big day" – Terence Williams, groom
Rehearsal Dinner
During this dry run for the big day, we check all the details- cues, music and transitions. Especially for weddings with big guest counts, these little details really make a difference in the wedding experience.
The Big Day
I wake up on the big day with butterflies just as the bride and groom do, and just as I did on my own wedding day. It’s time for the planning and preparation to result in a seamless experience. I arrive 2-3 hours early at the venue and set up three locations for rich sound: Ceremony, Cocktail & Reception. With everything in place, I am ready to press play, follow the timeline, and set the beautiful moments in motion.
After the ceremony, it's time to celebrate by announcing the new couple, the cherished dances, and an unforgettable dance party.
The After Party
Crafting an exciting or elegant wedding experience requires thorough planning, preparation and precise execution. I love the challenge of building trust with the couple and following my detailed process to curate the soundtrack of a dream wedding day for the couple and their family.
